Establishment
In August, 1987, the Cudahy City Council established the City’s first Aging and Senior Citizen Commission. This action firmly demonstrated the Council’s commitment to deal with issues affecting our community’s senior citizens.
Responsibilities
The intent of the City Council in setting up the Commission was to make sure the City has a representative and responsible group of citizens to advise the City Council, City staff and the general public in how to meet the many challenges encountered by senior citizens and with aging in our community.
Gerontology
The Aging and Senior Citizen Commission is to advise the City Council and the Administrative Staff in the area of gerontology. The Commission shall also, when requested by the City Council investigate, study, survey, and hold public hearings and make recommendations to the City Council and the Administrative staff.
